Have you ever heard the old saying, Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right either way?

It is so true. The things we say to ourselves are exactly the reality we create for ourselves.

What is Self Talk?

Self-talk is that little voice in the back of our minds. (Did it just say, “I don’t have a voice in the back of my head”? That’s the one!)

Now, sometimes, that voice shares with us some things that will serve us. And, oftentimes, it shares with us things that don’t serve us. Some self-talk is really good, but some self-talk is really bad. Believe it or not, you talk to yourself hundreds of thousands of times each day.

When it’s Negative

The talk that isn’t good for you are limiting decisions and limiting beliefs. These are the internal antagonizers and they feed off of and give life to your self-talk.

Your negative self-talk will turn your limiting beliefs into your reality. Negative self-talk is the anchor in your mind that keeps you from being, doing, and having.

I believe that when you are just one degree off course, you can completely miss your mark

When you learn how to take that negative self-talk and shift it (even just by 1 degree), your entire life will be transformed.

A shift from negative self-talk to positive self-talk will propel those actions, goals, and dreams into forward momentum.

Can I Shut off the Self Talk?

Self-talk shows up in your life almost every second of every day. Some of it is good and some of it is not so good. Self-talk has a huge impact on your performance in every aspect of your life, whether it’s business or personal.

Have you ever walked into a room and worried about what people will think of you?

Have you ever sat alone in a room and listened to what you say to yourself?

Some things we say to ourselves really help us and some things we say to ourselves really hurt us. Your performance and success are not random. It is directly related to your thoughts and expectations which self-talk directly impacts.

Self-talk impacts your physical, mental, and emotional condition every second of every day. You cannot shut it off.

Can you Identify Where Negative Self Talk has shown up in your life?

Have you ever told yourself, “I’m so tired”? I’ll bet pretty soon after you said that to yourself internally you were ready for a nap!

Have you ever told yourself, “I can’t afford that”? What happened next?

Have you ever sat at an event or a seminar and listened to a presentation on a product or service that you want? You know this is the solution you need for your business but, the little voice in your head is saying, “I can’t afford this”. And you talk yourself out of the purchase. Even if you know how much you could have used it. How much it could have served you.

And the way we talk ourselves out of it is, instead of looking for a solution, we instantly throw up the barrier.

Have you ever said:

  • I can’t do that
  • I can’t make that much money
  • That person is a millionaire because

Learning to control your self-talk will help you manage the information you are feeding yourself on a continual basis.

But, first, you must learn to identify and eliminate the negative mind chatter, that little voice in your head that is holding you back.

We all have that little voice in our heads. Self-talk and mind chatter really does matter.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, what you feed grows and what you starve dies.

So, what is it that you’re feeding your self-talk? If it’s negative, it can limit us and if it’s positive it can put us into a state of abundance!

Now that you know WHY self-talk matters, let’s talk about how to minimize that negative chatter! Check out my audio training, Self Talk Matters, for techniques that will eliminate the negative self-talk that’s holding you back!
