Stacey: Melinda, thanks so much for joining us. Welcome to the show.

Melinda: Thank you for having me.

Stacey: I know you’re busy and I really, really appreciate you earmarking the time. We’ve known each other almost 20 years. You’ve seen me through some successes, some failures, some up’s and down’s. And I’ve seen you through starting out in real estate and building your empire.

Melinda: Yeah. A lot has changed in 20 years.

Stacey: Yes it has. And you also have a new addition to your family, a little rugrat, your 18 month old son, right?

Melinda: Yes. Definitely keeps me busy in my free time.

Stacey: And how has that impacted your pursuit and managing your business and everything having a little one around?

Melinda: You know, I think it’s actually given me more drive to succeed, and to be more efficient, if that makes sense. I think back to this one year when I did this bike ride from San Francisco to LA, and the training that was involved was very intense, and so it made me stick to a really regimented schedule. I feel like I got more done – that was one of my best years that first year that I did that, because I had to get everything done in a certain amount of time. As you know, as well as I do, that the stuff that we do expands to fill the time that we give it. So with my work schedule now, I start working at 8 and I stop working at 5:30. I just have to get everything done in that time, so it really forces me to figure out what is the priorities, and not delegate or not do the rest. That way I can spend nights with my son and my wife and not be running around and still working while I am missing time with him.
