Our beliefs influence our behavior. They influence our decisions, our actions, our thoughts, our attitudes, our capabilities, and our abilities. The bottom line is, that our beliefs influence everything we do, including everything we achieve, which in this case is our success.
One of my favorite quotes from Henry Ford was, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right either way.”
Think about it. Think about our thoughts and think about how they contribute to everything you do. Whether we think we can or we think we can’t. If we think we can, we go towards it with all of our fortitude, all of our stickability, all of our heart, our soul, and our might.
And if we think we can’t, we avoid it like the plague. If we think we can’t, we end up sabotaging ourselves. We look for excuses as to why we can’t so we don’t schedule it, or we don’t do it, or we avoid it.
The Next Great Depression
Think about what happened during the Great Depression. So many people suffered from financial distress. Yet, the greatest number of millionaires, ever in our history, emerged during this time of devastation.
Why do you think that is?
It’s because most people bought into that financial climate of devastation, while others adapted, adjusted, exercised flexibility, and shifted. They believed they could do those things and so they did! They found needs within their expertise and they filled them.
Today’s current climate, due to the pandemic, is similar to what happened during the Great Depression.
Think about it. When the pandemic struck two years ago, how many people retracted backward? How many people are still waiting until all of this ends or are waiting until we get to the other side of this pandemic? How many people do you know that struggled, or maybe stopped putting the pedal to the metal in their pursuit of success?
I know you have dreams and desires. You deserve to achieve the life you want. Your prospective clients are out there and they have a need, want, and desire for your product service or solution. If they can’t find you, they are going to find someone else.
The five most powerful beliefs that will help determine your success are:
Think about the voice in your head. I call it the Itty-bitty-shitty-committee or the Bully in Your Brain! What does the voice in your head think about your self-worth?
Right now, think to yourself the amount of money you’d like to make. Now, add a zero to it! What did the voice in your head say?
So, what is your worth? What self-worth do you have? Do you honestly believe that you are worth making a hundred million dollars in a year? Do you believe you are worth having every one of your dreams come true?
What value do you put on yourself, your dreams, and your goals? How do you honor you? How do you honor your boundaries and your time?
Whatever value you put on yourself and what you pursue, that is the amount of energy that will follow it!
3. Competency and capabilities
Do you know how to do what it is you want to do? If you do, you will get to accomplish what it is you want to accomplish. If you don’t there’s a high probability you’re going to be disempowered.
Maybe you don’t know how to sell. Maybe you don’t know how to negotiate. Maybe you don’t know how to close. Maybe you don’t know how to market.
Whatever your competencies or capabilities are, it’s okay. It’s a starting point. If you know what you know, then you can begin to pursue what you don’t know.
It’s important to understand that we may not always control our environment, however, we can control how we respond to our environment.
We may not control other people’s behaviors, however, we can control how we respond to those behaviors.
Know what you control and what you don’t control. Then, empower yourself in the areas that you don’t control.
5. Our goals
Are you setting your goals too low? Set huge benchmark goals!
Avoid losing the ability to set big impact goals. Empower yourself to go after them!
